Notice from the State Intellectual Property Office Regarding the Implementation of the Latest International Patent Classification (Version 2026.01)

 

 

To ensure the accuracy and effectiveness of the International Patent Classification        To ensure the accuracy and validity of International Patent Classification (IPC) codes for Chinese patent literature, the State Intellectual Property Office will implement IPC (2026.01 Edition) for classifying and publishing Chinese patent documents from 1 January 2026.

      Compared to IPC (2025.01 edition), the new version revises 1,615 classification codes, including 517 new additions and 206 deletions.

      To facilitate the adoption of the new IPC version, the National Intellectual Property Administration has produced supporting materials for IPC (Version 2026.01), including the IPC classification tables, classification definitions, and a comparison table between the old and new versions. These resources are available via the Administration's official website (https://www.cnipa.gov.cn/col/col3161/index.html).
