On the afternoon of 21 October 2026, the XJTLU Intellectual Property Field Trip to the Biomedical Industry, co-organised by the XJTLU Library, the XJTLU Intellectual Property Information Service Centre and Suzhou Industrial Park Library, was successfully held at Suzhou BioBAY. Faculty and students from Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University visited the BioBAY to gain first-hand insights into the innovation pathways and intellectual property practices of biomedical enterprises.

The delegation visited key entities within the park in sequence. At Peijia Medical, faculty and students learned about the transcatheter aortic valve system. The sophisticated design of the medical device and a wide array of intellectual property certificates allowed the group to witness the robust IP underpinning innovative achievements.
At the BioBAY Exhibition Hall, participants gained a systematic overview of the park’s development journey and accomplishments. Covering more than 1.77 million square metres, the industrial cluster is home to over 680 innovative biomedical enterprises.
At Crystal Pharmatech, Dr. Decheng Ma, CEO of the CDMO Division, gave a detailed presentation on the full lifecycle of drug R&D and commercialisation. Drawing on industry experience, he shared practical advice on career development. Bridging classroom theories with real industrial cases, this visit helped the faculty and students build a more holistic and in-depth understanding of the biomedical sector and frontline IP practice.

The XJTLU Intellectual Property Field Trip Programme is a signature practical initiative launched by the XJTLU Intellectual Property Information Service Centre for university faculty and students. Through on-site visits to industrial parks and enterprises, the programme aims to cultivate high-calibre IP talents with an international vision and practical capabilities. Moving forward, the Centre will continue to collaborate with partners including Suzhou Industrial Park Library, diversify visit themes, innovate activity formats, and build more practical platforms for faculty and students to engage with cutting-edge industrial developments.
