On 24 October, the 2026 Annual Academic Conference of the Jiangsu Provincial Research Association for Science of Science and Technology Management was held at Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU). Themed "Science and Technology Innovation and Industrial Transformation in the Intelligent Era," the event was co-hosted by the Jiangsu Provincial Research Association for Science of Science and Technology Management and XJTLU. As an important part of the annual conference, the "Youth Talent and Integration Innovation" sub-forum—organized by the XJTLU Intellectual Property Information Service Center and co-organized by the Suzhou Intellectual Property Operation Association—was successfully held that afternoon in Room 2114, BS Building, XJTLU.

At the main venue, experts and scholars including Du Youwei, Professor at Nanjing University and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Hu Zhijian, Chairman of the China Association for Science of Science and Science and Technology Policy, delivered insightful presentations on topics such as the reshaping of research paradigms in the AI era and the evolving boundary between science and technology. Li Jianqing, Chairman of the Jiangsu Provincial Research Association for Science of Science and Technology Management, presented certificates to the 2026 recipients of the association's "Jiangsu Young Science and Technology Talent Support Program."

Focusing on Youth Strength, Discussing Technology Transfer and Integration Innovation

Young science and technology talent is a key force for the sustained development of science and technology innovation. As the sub-forum of this annual conference focusing on "youth talent" and "intellectual property transformation," the "Youth Talent and Integration Innovation" session closely aligned with the development needs of the intelligent era, bringing together university scholars, industry experts, and intellectual property practitioners for in-depth discussions on core topics such as high-value patent cultivation, proof of concept, and industry-education integration. The sub-forum was carefully planned and organized by the XJTLU Intellectual Property Information Service Center, aiming to build a platform for cross-disciplinary exchange for young science and technology talent.

During the keynote presentation session, several prominent experts shared insights with strong practical guidance:

Deng Yimin, former Deputy Director-level Researcher of the Regional Innovation and Technology Transfer Division of the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Science and Technology, delivered a presentation titled "Accelerating Full Integration into the Shanghai (Yangtze River Delta) International Science and Technology Innovation Center," analyzing the key stages of bringing technological achievements to market from both policy and practical perspectives.

Qi Yong, Professor at the School of Intellectual Property, Nanjing University of Science and Technology, focused on "Policy and Practical Pathways for High-Value Patent Cultivation Driven by Science and Technology Innovation," using the university's practices as an example to offer valuable insights into how researchers can develop high-value patent portfolios.

Xu Dechang, Professor at the School of AI and Advanced Technology, XJTLU, shared "Crossing the 'First Mile': Practice and Reflections on Proof of Concept," exploring how to bridge the "first mile" from laboratory research to industrialization.

Roundtable Dialogue Sparks Ideas, Exploring New Approaches to Education-Industry Integration

Following the expert presentations, the sub-forum featured a roundtable discussion themed "Key Approaches to Education-Industry Integration." Guests including Du Wenjing, Li Wei, Deng Yimin, and Dang Jianbing gathered to draw on their rich experience in research management, intellectual property operations, and industry, engaging in lively discussions on topics such as how to cultivate young innovative talent that meets industry needs and how to build efficient industry-academia-research collaboration mechanisms. The session saw frequent interaction and a strong atmosphere of academic and practical exchange.

Leveraging Center Strengths to Empower High-Quality Local Innovation and Development

The successful organization of the "Youth Talent and Integration Innovation" sub-forum fully demonstrated the professional capabilities and platform advantages of the XJTLU Intellectual Property Information Service Center in intellectual property information services, technology transfer and commercialization, and industry-academia-research collaboration.
