2025-04-17

As one of the important activities of the 2025 “Intellectual Property Awareness Week”, the SIP IP Court Observation Day was successfully held on the afternoon of April 16th. This activity was jointly organized by SIP Science and Technology Innovation Commission (Intellectual Property Office) and SIP People's Court, and co-organized by IP Service Union of SIP and XJTLU Intellectual Property Information Service Center, which attracted 20 staff and students to participate in this activity.

Guided by the court staff, XJTLU staff and students visited the court and gained an in-depth understanding of the innovative practices of the courts in strengthening the judicial protection of intellectual property rights, optimizing the business environment and promoting the one-stop service.

In the trial observation session, the students observed the trial process of the franchise contract dispute case. This case involves the granting of coffee brand franchise, trademark use compliance and business qualification disputes and other legal issues related to intellectual property rights. Under the auspices of the court, the plaintiff and the defendant conducted evidence and legal debates around the contract performance obstacles, liquidated damages and other focus issues, the trial process was rigorous and orderly, presenting a vivid intellectual property practice class for the teachers and students.

When joining a chain brand, one should strictly review the terms and conditions of the contract, clearly define the responsibilities and obligations of the brand, and ensure that the licenses and qualifications are complete, including the food business license and authorization of the take-away platform, etc., in order to avoid potential legal risks and obstacles in operation.

In the future, XJTLU Intellectual Property Information Service Center will continue to deepen its cooperation with judicial authorities, enhance the awareness of intellectual property protection among teachers and students through diversified legal activities, and contribute to the creation of a social environment that respects innovation and the rule of law.
