2025-10-16

On October 14, 2025, the XJTLU IPISC and IIH successfully held a lecture on "Intellectual Property Protection Strategies for Software" at the South Campus. The event attracted nearly 30 participants, including faculty and students from XJTLU and representatives from incubated enterprises in the IIH, who came together to discuss how to effectively protect the intellectual property of relevant software and programs in the context of rapid advancements in AI technology.

The lecture was presented by Mr. Zhou Lujing, a senior patent attorney from the Beyond Intellectual Property Agency. In his talk, Mr. Zhou provided a clear and concise introduction to the basic concepts of intellectual property and its importance in corporate innovation and market competition. He emphasised that with the continuous application of AI technology, companies and developers must prioritise the protection of intellectual property to ensure the legal use of their technologies and enhance the commercialisation capacity of their innovations. Mr. Zhou detailed the processes for applying for software patents and copyrights in the AI field, analysed key points to consider when applying for software patents, clarified the differences between software copyrights and patent rights, and discussed how to better protect artificial intelligence software or programs through different forms of intellectual property.

Participants also engaged in enthusiastic discussions with Mr. Zhou about practical issues they encountered in their research and work. They expressed that the lecture not only broadened their understanding of intellectual property but also provided valuable guidance on how to protect their innovative achievements in practical work.

In the future, IPISC will continue to host similar events to promote knowledge exchange and collaboration between faculty, students, and enterprises, providing stronger support for technological innovation.
