The XJTLU Chinese Debate Team and the Vision College Debate Team from Renmin University of China debated on the topic "Is a good intellectual property order more dependent on legal system construction or cultural construction?" The affirmative side insisted that legal system construction is the key to maintaining the order of intellectual property, while the negative side believed that cultural construction is essential for creating a social atmosphere that respects intellectual property. The debaters on both sides spoke with tight logic and ample arguments, engaging in a heated exchange, and their superb debating skills won frequent nods and applause from the live audience. Ultimately, the XJTLU Chinese Debate Team won the championship with profound insights and compact reasoning.
The debate competition invited professionals such as Gu Chengkai, Deputy Director of the Suzhou Industrial Park Science and Technology Innovation Committee (Intellectual Property Bureau), Xu Feiyun, Deputy Director of the Intellectual Property Court of the Suzhou Intermediate People's Court, Li Xiaowei, Vice President of the Suzhou Copyright Association and Partner of Suzhou Xin Tianlun Law Firm, Zhu Chenqian, Deputy General Manager of Suzhou Dushu Lake Science and Education Development Co., Ltd., and Fei Daoye, Coach of the Debate Society of Jiangsu Suzhou High School, to serve as judges. After the competition, the mascot of "Yuan Zhi Hui"—"Zhi Zhi" was unveiled. The design was inspired by the ancient Chinese mythical creature Jie Zhi, known for its ability to discern right from wrong, symbolizing justice and wisdom, and conveying the spirit of youthful vitality and innovation. The character's horned head is a modern interpretation of Jie Zhi's features, symbolizing the ability to perceive and discern truth from falsehood. "Zhi Zhi" holds the Yuanzhi Hui logo, which resembles a shield representing protection and safety, echoing Jie Zhi's image of guarding the truth and conveying the importance of protecting intellectual property. Its bright colors and cute design make it more relatable and easily accepted by the public, especially the younger generation. It also combines traditional culture with modern design, conveying the important message of protecting the fruits of wisdom.
