2025 Typical Cases of Overseas Intellectual Property Rights Dispute Response and Guidance in Jiangsu Province

In 2025, Jiangsu Province thoroughly studied and implemented General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important expositions on foreign-related intellectual property rights (IPR) protection, as well as the decisions and arrangements of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and the State Council on foreign-related IPR protection. The province further improved the working system for guiding the handling of overseas IPR disputes, with six additional local working platforms for such guidance newly approved, including those in Taizhou and Lianyungang. As a result, the total number of national-level local institutions guiding the handling of overseas IPR disputes in the province reached 16, covering all prefecture-level cities. The province’s working platforms for guiding overseas IPR dispute response operated with high quality, establishing and improving a working mechanism featuring rapid response, professional support, and coordinated linkage. Focusing on key industries such as biomedicine and new energy, as well as critical areas including Section 337 investigations, cross-border e-commerce litigation, trademark squatting, and standard-essential patents (SEPs), the platforms monitored 722 overseas IPR disputes and provided 287 response guidance services to 176 enterprises. To summarize and promote effective practices and experience in guiding the handling of overseas IPR disputes, the Jiangsu Provincial Intellectual Property Administration collected a batch of representative practical cases across the province and compiled the 2025 Jiangsu Province Typical Cases of Guidance on Overseas Intellectual Property Rights Dispute Response. All regions may learn from and draw on these cases based on local conditions, further enhancing their capacity to guide overseas IPR dispute response, forging a strong shield for foreign-related economic activities, delivering more convenient and professional services to the province’s enterprises going global, and providing robust support for the high-quality economic and social development of Jiangsu.
